Introduction
Written by Jim Tribble

My name is Jim Tribble and since school and through college I have had a compulsion to compose music. Currently I live and work in Scotland as a teacher, composer and musician.

I have set up this website to explore whether the music that I have written, and composed over the last twenty six years has a wider cultural significance.  I am also trying to broaden my cultural footprint (ie; the number of people who hear my music).

To this end if you wish to hear a computer generated copy of my music  go to http://www.ilike.com/artist/Jim+Tribble

Please let me know if you like my music.

Having advertised my ilike site, I feel that one of the ways in which music should be explored is from the written note rather than listening to someone else's interpretation or a computer generated version, hence the name of the site. This site is for musicians who wish to look at new music with a fresh ear, without being influenced by other recordings or digital music renditions.

Currently (2009) I am completely revising all of my work, and putting in new articulation marks etc, I am resetting all the counters to Zero for any work that have been done.  So please revisit some of the older pieces.  I have also put in a Piano 2 in All the Pieces as there are too many pieces in Piano 1, section. The Pieces are not in alphabetical order.

There is now available a CD of 24 pieces of music, generated from the computer, (so  not  very musical). This gives you an idea as to how the music  roughly  sounds. Please email at if you wish a copy.  The CD is free. Or you could go to my i'like account and hear some of the pieces here or go via the links section under Jim's music and pictures.

I would also welcome other musicians interpretations of my compositions and would like to hear any constructive comments/suggestions as well.

If you are interested in a particular piece, please print off a copy.  These compositions are for personal use, or use in limited performance. If you wish to use the pieces for any commercial ventures please contact me at The pieces are recorded and protected by Copyright and will be defended.

The ideas behind the site and my music are explored further on the philosophy page (more blurb).   There is also a comment page for feedback which would be welcome.

If you would like to know more about my music, or wish me to arrange any of the pieces or have ideas for new pieces please contact

This website is still in the first stages of construction so please bear with us as we put it together. It is protected by Copyright and will be defended, for more details see the Copyright page.
